Conjugation for Molecular Applications
Metallic nanopaticles, and in particular gold particles, functionalized by conjugation to oligo nucleotides are an important component in the development of nucleic acid based lateral flow assays. Extending on our expertise in immunoassay reagents for lateral flow applications, this new custom service provides robust oligo-gold conjugated reagents for research use.
BBI Molecular Conjugates consist of a sequence specific oligonucleotide attached via a spacer molecule to a BBI gold particle. Both the sizes of the oligos and gold particle that can be used are flexible (in the ranges of 20-30 bases and 20-150nms respectively).

The Benefits
As part of our custom conjugation service, we use BBI’s optimised molecular conjugation chemistry to attach oligos to gold particles. The chemistry produces a highly stable molecular conjugate well suited to use with nucleic acid based lateral flow assays.
What Do We Need To Know?
To enable us to develop your molecular conjugate all we need to know is:
- the oligo sequence information or user-supplied oligos
- the gold particle size required
- any required modifications to the oligo
- which standard buffer to be provided with finished conjugate
What Will BBI Provide?
Upon completion of the custom conjugation we will provide:
- 10ml at OD1 of finished conjugate
- A full laboratory report of the molecular conjugates performance which will include an assessment of its binding functionality using a dip stick assay
- Technical advice and ongoing support should you encounter any difficulties when handling your molecular conjugate
